Top tips to making your business look professional

No matter if your business is new, has been around for a while, small or large – making your business look and front as ‘professional’ is vitally important.

In a world where there is not enough time in the day, and where social media has such an impact, these tips could really help you!

1. Logo

Your logo is how people recognise you and your business. These days logos are easy to make and personalise. You can go simple with a free program like Canva or spend money and get a professional business, like Studio-4 Signs and Designs, to create one for you.

Make sure your logo is clean, not too distracting and makes your business name obvious. You want people to be able to know who you are and what you do by simply looking at the logo.

This could be on advertising, on a car, on social media – quick glance and they know who you are.

2. Up to date social media

Social media has such a large impact on businesses these days. Influence from other persons, impact from sponsored posts and more. When searching for a business most people head to social media to look around. This could be by searching for pages or even posting asking for suggestions from others.

Having current and up-to-date social media helps people make quick decisions on who they want to go with. Does your page have likes, reviews, recent posts, and looks ‘active’? Then you have already ticked boxes before they even look at your posts, products, or prices!

3. Using non-photo marked and good quality images

Making your business look authentic and professional means reviewing the images that you are posting! Does the image have a watermark from where you have saved it from the internet? Is it pixilated or bad quality? Has it been cut off or some parts cropped? Then the answer to posting this is NO.

Your images should be crisp, personalised if possible and of good quality. This really reflects on the quality your business finds acceptable and also shows the time and effort taken to find a good photo.

4. Signature on email

Let’s just say ‘Sent from Outlook’ or ‘Sent from iPhone’ is not a good look from a business!! These days it is so easy to set personalised signatures on desktops and also phone apps.

Whilst you may like to look at creating an image with your logo and information to set as your signature, please remember that a number of these are not compatible on phones. This means ensuring you have a suitable signature on both platforms – make it simple.

This way the person knows who you are, where you are from and a way to contact you. They may have emailed a number of people for quotes or information and are unsure who you are when you reply.

5. Personalised email address

If you have the money or further down the track, setting up a personalised email address is something to really consider. Having your business name as the host, rather than ‘gmail’, ‘outlook’, ‘icloud’ etc can be an added bonus of professionalism.

It shows potential customers that you are successful and is also another point of identification when they receive emails from you. These email addresses could be your name, info, contact, hello or all sorts of starts – however the end should be your business (and/or your website), such as kait@kaitlinsadministration.com.au.

6. Website

Again, another more expensive option is creating a website. Websites are an additional source of possible traffic other than just word of mouth and social media. It allows you to set information out in a more user-friendly format and also allows you to post much more information than other platforms.

They can be created by yourself on programs like WordPress or by seeking professional advice from website designers.

By having a website people are able to find you through Google, direct other potential customers straight to you and look through details without having to message you for more information. Websites are definitely one of the most professional assets to a business.

Make sure when someone comes across your business that within seconds the impression that they get is that your business is current, professional and liked by others.

I hope that these tips help you and your business.
