In-demand jobs that don’t need a degree for
I often search through the internet to look at common trends, business tips, and interesting information for small businesses as well as those looking for jobs.
Recently I came across a post from Seek about current, in-demand jobs that you do not need a degree for. My ears pricked up and I had to read, with genuine interest.
These days, money can be tight, time can be lacking or some people just aren’t suited to university education. Knowing what industries are in need of workers and that these positions are open to those without tertiary education can be extremely beneficial.
- Dental Receptionist
First point of contact, administrative work, booking appointments, making phone calls, collecting confidential information.
- Delivery Driver
Working on your own, being fit, loading and unloading boxes, driving vehicles around.
- Warehouse Store person
Carry and move items as needed, receive, unpack and correctly store items, use of machinery is often involved.
- Employment Consultant
Helping others find jobs and also give career advice, communicate with various persons, administrative work.
- Medical Receptionist
Similar to Dental Receptionists, bookings, communications, learning medical terminology, chasing results.
- General Labourer
Physical work with general labour to a number of trade areas such as bricklaying, building, plumbing, and more.
- Pharmacy Assistant
Assisting the pharmacist with medicine dispensing, communicating and helping customers with their needs, finding products, and money handling skills.
- Maintenance Officer
Similar to a handyman, helping with a variety of tasks that individuals and businesses need – such as plumbing, welding, basic carpentry, etc.
- Support Worker
Supporting others with their daily tasks and household duties. This can include completing paperwork, grocery shopping or even taking them out for leisure activities.
