Recently a few of my clients have spoken about how important it is for management of businesses when looking after and investing in employees – I hadn’t put much thought into, so I thought I would have a look around.
Investing in employees (not just with $$) really benefits a business & its reputation. One of my clients, a boss of over 70 staff put it simply “I am a pretty open boss, my staff get what they need, they are treated the way they should be & my business is better off because of it”.
It stuck with me, you can’t get back years of experience from staff, you will spend years & lots of money training new staff & your business will go backwards during this time.
So for all businesses with employees, here are somethings to consider:
– 92% of employees would be more likely to stay if their bosses showed more empathy.
– 76% of employees don’t feel valued at work.
– Better staff retention = less turnover.
– By keeping staff your company will gain more expertise.
– Happy employees = 31% higher productivity, 27% higher sales & 3X higher creativity.
– Listening is investing, & it pays dividends.
– Up to 70% of employees are unhappy with their job.
– The highest percent for workplace happiness is having ‘meaning’ in the business – not pay!
Show staff you care, be approachable, celebrate anniversary’s, offer perks, assist with training, recognise hard work, listen to their input & mostly DON’T BE A JERK, respect your employees & they will respect your business.
