When writing a resume it is vital to include the most important & relevant information.
Compacting your work experience, achievements & education into a small space is a hard task. Here are some tips on what to LEAVE OUT
*Personal Info/photos: there is no need for potential employers to know your DOB, race, what you look like or personal info other than your name.
*Hobbies: this can still be relevant for high schoolers or those looking to secure their first position. However, otherwise isn’t required, leave this space for more important info.
*Lies: The info provided should be correct & not exaggerated. These details can be questioned by employers, checked with referees & expected of you if you do secure the position.
*Grammar & spelling errors: This is a bad reflection on you & your ability to check the work you are creating. Be sure to check over your document & get someone else to look over it as well.
*Irrelevant/old experience & education: Jobs/certs over 10 years, or with no benefit/relevance to this position should be left out. You want the employer to be engaged in the info you are supplying.
*Long paragraphs: With sometimes hundreds of applications to read through, paragraphs are hard to gain the important facts from. List your info in bullet points showing the important facts.
Try & keep your resume information relevant to the position you are applying for & list as much detail in your previous positions as possible.
Good luck :)
