Rewarding your staff

In-demand jobs that don’t need a degree for

It seems as though, in 2021, we have become a culture of expecting and not thanking staff for the work that they complete.

I came across a quote not too long ago and it really struck a chord:

“Nothing will destroy a great employee faster than watching your employer tolerate and reward the bad ones”.

Why is this common, and why is it happening? If this is happening in your business, as an employer or manager, it is time to change!

Rewarding your employees does not have to be a hefty bonus payment, extended time off work, or anything extreme! Simple gestures go a long way!

Simple ways to reward your employees:

– Thank you

It can be as easy as that, face-to-face, genuine, thank your staff for something they have done or just their commitment to your business.

– A public thank you

Posting publicly can make some people feel more valued, a Facebook post, email to clients, email to staff, or something simple to say thanks to a particular person or team.

– Handwritten note or card

Get personal, write a handwritten note or card, show that you took time and effort to appreciate and notice their work.

– Small gifts

Inexpensive gifts. Donuts, flowers, a card, a small trinket for their desk, or something similar.

– Allow them to finish early one day
Surprise them with a small act of kindness, let them finish early one day, spontaneously. Allow them to pick their kid up from school or surprise their other half.

– Wall of fame or employee of the month

Look to introduce an employee of the month system, even a wall of fame to post pictures of the employee each month for everyone to see.

Don’t forget, the way you treat your employees will reflect on the way they treat your business and the level of work they complete for you. Nurturing, thanking, and respecting your employees will go a long way in increasing your business’s success!

I hope this helps.
