This month, is Jacob from Shift and Co.

Shift and Co provide needs-based Personal Development Coaching and Social Programs for neurodiverse young adults in Canberra. These include mentoring and coaching services as well as group MATES sessions and various community one off fun events.

Why did you look for administrative help?

I was spending hours each week on tasks that I do not excel in, which were taking me away from my real areas of skill as a business owner. As soon as I could afford it, it became a very easy decision.

Do you think the extra expense of paying for administrative help, outweighs the time it would take for you to complete the tasks?

It’s actually not an extra expense, it works out cheaper than me doing this myself. Firstly, a specialised admin person, like Kaitlin, can do this much quicker than I can. Also, I am able earn more money per hour, than the cost of paying admin per hour; so I am financially better off outsourcing my admin. 

Do you have any tips or suggestions for someone who may be struggling with their administration?

Make the decision to get admin support as soon as possible! It will change your experience of running your own business. Also, use a small provider like Kaitlin, I previously used a larger organisation and quickly realised that the care factor and attention to detail was just not there.

A similar trend, businesses realising that their time is important to the main section of their business and that businesses flourish when this extra time is fed back into the business, rather than its administrative work.
