5 tips for office workers!
Working in an office environment? I am sure you have heard the term ‘ergonomics’ and probably didn’t do anything about it.
As I get older and continue to spend time at the desk, I started to think that maybe it was time to listen to those documents (and also medical professionals haha).
Not to overdo it, or to go into the nitty-gritty, here are 5 quick tips for office workers that you can change quickly to help you get started.
Get your neck, back, shoulders, and body feeling better!
1. Move your monitor screen – it is so important these days to keep your neck neutral and not bending up or down (like looking at your smartphone). position your screen so that your eyes line with the top of the screen.
2. Buy a new chair – using an old chair, or even a plastic or wooden dining chair? Replace it! Shop around and find the right chair for your setup and one that supports your back.
3. Set a move timer – if you are like me when you get stuck into a project you lose the concept of time. Set a time for every 30-45 minutes to stand up, do a quick stretch and sit back down. It takes less than a minute, but saves your body in the long run!
4. Lighting – Use natural light or lights that do not directly reflect off your screens. If the light is shining directly in your eyes try closing certain blinds to redirect the shine and glare.
5. Drink water – I know, who would have thought? Have a drink bottle close by or within reaching distance to make yourself more likely to drink it. If not, set a reminder to have a drink throughout the day as well.
See – simple and easy to do! If you are feeling up to it, after doing these, look at other ergonomically beneficial changes that you can make for yourself and your office from Job Access.
I hope this helps.
